Description: I thought the last one would end this series...how naive of me! Here's a brand new tail to add a new leg to this saga. |

JSResponds ::: Favorites Please do us all a favor and read all of the comments I make in a thread before responding. I said that inequality has always existed and that religion is just One way of justifying it. 07-10-25 21:34:31 __________________________________________________
DeletedDelusion ::: Favorites Are womens rights established in muslim coutries like saudi arabia as we know them in the west? Look how long it took christian coutries to get som sort of equality. If you read the old testament you´ll see how unequal men and women were treated. It got a bit better in the new testament. 07-10-25 12:09:45 __________________________________________________
DeletedDelusion ::: Favorites All ancient societies were in some sort "religious". Higher powers were the only way to explain the existence of our world then. Why do you think that women were more equal in ancient times? Women weren´t allowed to even watch the olimpic games in ancient greece. 07-10-25 12:02:26 __________________________________________________
JSResponds ::: Favorites I never said that holy books/religion/dogma don't provide justification. I actually argued For that, but just pointed out that they aren't the Only justification. (ie, it isn't ALL religion's fault.) 07-10-25 03:16:58 __________________________________________________
TheReal316 ::: Favorites Fine, it could have been either gender that was dominated in ancient societies without religion as a justification. But what about modern day Muslim countries? Or the fact that women weren't allowed to vote or weren't given equal rights in this country for years? What's the justification for that? You could say social and economic issues again but that's not the case at least in Muslim countries. It's the Koran that justifies it. 07-10-25 01:36:35 __________________________________________________
JSResponds ::: Favorites My point was that they Weren't equal. One sex or the other dominated. Religion wasn't needed to justify a ruling sex, though that was the typical for women-run societies. (I was wrong to say that I couldn't recall one in which women seem to run without religious influence. There's at least one, in Paupau, NG.) 07-10-25 00:30:14 __________________________________________________
TheReal316 ::: Favorites The story goes on from there but the point is yes in ancient societies women were more equal. But look at Muslim country's now and look how long it took for women's rights to get established in this country. Ancient religious societies might have been more equal but modern ones aren't even close in some countries. 07-10-25 00:26:50 __________________________________________________
TheReal316 ::: Favorites And that's true to a certain extent. In ancient Greek & Pagan Mythology the Goddesses and women were more powerful and respected in the society. There's a story in Greek Mythology about Zeus having an affair with a women on earth and when his wife Hera found out he was actually scared of her. 07-10-25 00:26:14 __________________________________________________
TheReal316 ::: Favorites That's where I said I agree with you. Men are physically more powerful than women. My point was that Women must be more emotionally and on some level, physically tough to endure childbirth. As a guy, I can't see myself handling labor pains and I don't think any guy could. That was the point I was trying to make. Women on a different level are stronger than men. Sorry if it came off wrong. 07-10-25 00:25:27 __________________________________________________
JSResponds ::: Favorites You're taking an odd interpretation of what I said. Men are physically more powerful than women. The only societies I know of in ancient times where there was equality or women ruled were religious societies. 07-10-24 22:48:32 __________________________________________________ |
