@petercouzens -Well, I think he's is kinda correct. The first Clash during the late 70's up to early 80's sounded punk rock but they explored and somehow diverted from the scene. Why don't you check their first releases and then the later ones? Still, The Clash OWNS!

This not a punk song guys - it pure rock n roll / rock a billy - that's what they were at heart - rock and rollers who just happened to be around when punk hit and they took full advnatage, but left it as soon as they had developed beyond it
