Sharpy, although the vid response I posted contains a scene of me (a dwarf) and a vacuum cleaner I can honestly say hand on (swollen) crotch that the guy in your story is definitely not me :)

Just out of curiosity, is it just a British thing to say "hoover?" I noticed you said vacuum cleaner...is that usual in australian english? (I know responses should be funny or exciting...so, apologies in advance for asking a question.) :P

"hoover" is a very british term referring to a specific brand of machine, whereas everyone else just refers to the machine itself which is a vacuum clearner.

"Hoover" is used to refer to all (nothing specific) vacuum cleaners in the UK and Ireland. Hoover was very popular and the name stuck. It's the exact same as calling a Zune an iPod. iPods are the most popular mp3 players and many people have called my Creative mp3 player an iPod.
